Plant of the Month • Care Tips • Availability

Dear Plant Enthusiasts,

We’re excited to introduce our plant of the month for September — the 6” & 10” Croton Petra. With glossy, color-splashed leaves in vibrant shades of green, gold, orange, and red, Croton Petra brings instant energy and tropical flair to any room.

This sun-loving beauty thrives in bright light (a little gentle morning sun is great) and appreciates consistent moisture with good drainage. Give it occasional misting to boost humidity, and you’ll be rewarded with bold, long-lasting color.

Plant of the Month

6” Croton Petra (Codiaeum variegatum ‘Petra’)

Native to Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Croton Petra thrives in warm, humid conditions with bright light—exactly the recipe for vibrant indoor color. In 6” pots, it makes a bold, architectural accent near sunny windows (gentle morning sun is ideal).

Celebrated for its leathery, color-blocked foliage, Croton Petra displays a striking mosaic of green, gold, orange, and red with prominent veining. Color intensifies with brighter light, while consistent moisture (never soggy) and good drainage keep leaves glossy and full.

Quick care: Bright light • Water when top soil starts to dry • Good drainage • Rotate pot for even growth • Wipe leaves to keep sheen.

Varieties of the Month

Philo Xanadu

Dense, mounded form with deeply lobed glossy leaves. Great in bright, indirect light—adds lush texture and tropical structure.

Philo Selloum

Dramatic, sculptural canopy with deeply lobed leaves. Perfect for medium-to-bright indirect light and open corners.

Ficus Lyrata

Bold, upright form with oversized leaves. Bright indirect light, steady warmth, and evenly moist (never soggy) soil.

Philodendron Monstera

Large glossy leaves with natural splits. Medium-to-bright indirect light, evenly moist soil, higher humidity; add a moss pole for support.

Did You Know?

Trivia of the Month: Croton Petra’s colors are “light-activated”—brighter, indirect sun helps green leaves develop richer gold, orange, and red tones.
